Job Title: Registered Nurse (RN) Profession: Nursing Specialty: CVOR Duration: 13 weeks Shift: Day Hours per Shift: 10 Experience: Minimum three (3) years of relevant nursing experience; CVOR experience required License: RN License in good standing Certifications: BLS (American Heart Association) Must-Have: CVOR experience, trauma experience highly preferred Description: The staff Registered Nurse (RN) is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility for a group of patients for a designated time frame. The RN provides care to these patients via the utilization of the nursing process, nursing trends, technology, financial and human resources within the philosophy of the institution. Responsibilities include performing all duties required by the unit specific to the scope of service. The RN implements procedures and theories related to the specific area of practice. Maintaining up-to-date and accurate documentation of nursing care is essential for integration of information for use by the healthcare team. Initial assessments upon patient admission are completed and appropriate plans of care are developed in accordance with unit standards based on patient and family needs. The RN implements the plan of care, nursing interventions, and patient care procedures. Plans of care are modified based on continuous evaluation. The RN takes responsibility for patient and employee safety by reporting and/or correcting safety hazards and incidents. Effective communication with others directly and in private is necessary to resolve issues. Constructive feedback is offered to assist in the professional development of peers. Colleagues are consulted to expand the knowledge base. The RN identifies personal learning needs and takes initiative to begin appropriate solutions. All requirements of departmental competencies must be fulfilled. Preparation of the OR Suite for patients includes supplies, equipment, medications, and other needs. The RN interviews the patient utilizing two identifiers (name and date of birth). Transporting patients to the appropriate OR Suite and onto the OR table using safety precautions is essential. Time-outs are performed upon entry of the suite, prior to incision, and before exiting the OR suite. Patients are positioned and prepped for procedures utilizing positional aides and guidelines. The RN supports the surgical team during procedures by responding to requests from the team for extra supplies, blood, specimens, cultures, medications, and dressing. Patients are transported to the PACU or specific unit, and handoffs are provided to receiving RNs. About Cynet Health
